Ok, I've decided something
I love comedic, silly, mystery novels. Add a strong heroine and some interesting and innovative (but not dumb) fantastical elements and you've got me hooked. I have been gobbling them up like candy during my vacation.
I also love sexy, dark, violent, HBO TV series, also with fantastical elements.
I'm not really sure how one came from the other. It doesn't make a lot of sense, but I'm going to enjoy them both separately and not try and reconcile the two.
And that is what I've decided.
