Gettin' my Kicks - Signage

The following photos are the reason why it must be so frustrating for my husband to go on any sort of driving trip with me. I love taking pictures of classic signs. You might even say I'm obsessed with it. I have gotten plenty of weird looks from motel front desk employees as I pull into the parking lot just to shoot their sign from all angles. Aren't there a lot of people who do this?

I like the deserted feeling of these photos, it's very Route 66. Also, taking a solo road trip a few days before Christmas is, you know, not such a lively and happening thing.

What are your favorite things to shoot on road trips? Are you more of a landscape/scenic view person? Or are your tastes kitschy like mine?

  1. Great photos!

I like taking photos of signs, food, and the view from wherever I'm sitting that second. I just have to get better at stepping in front of the camera and getting in the shots so I remember that I was there :)

  2. Jen---I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE these. So much inspiration to be found in their layout and design. I'm going to have to share this on twitter!

  3. We've eaten at the Palm, and stayed several times at the Hill Top. Great signs - and you have a very nice set of pictures here. :)
