Do you ever have that feeling when you do something for the first time, and you think 'wow, wouldn't it be cool to do this every year?' I had that feeling over the weekend when we attended the
Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta for the first time. It was pretty magical. There were shaped balloons, rainbow balloons, glowing balloons, and mass ascensions. Every morning, they release all the balloons in one huge group, and each night they set the balloons up on the ground and simultaneously light the burners, causing a very cool glowing effect. To top it all off, there is an amazing fireworks show and really great food, including a million booths dedicated to the breakfast burrito.
I honestly haven't had so much fun behind a lens in a while. Hot air balloons, people! What could be more fun to photograph?
Jen, these pictures are AMAZING! I LOVE the balloon festival, but haven't been since I was a little girl! I really need to go back. I'm glad you got to go and have a great time!

AMAZING photos! What kind of camera do you use?
ReplyDeleteThanks, guys! Kam, most of them are taken with my Nikon D90. The last day, I left my battery on the charger so I used my husbands camera, a Pentax K100D.
ReplyDeleteI also shot film and polaroids, but I am slow at scanning and developing.
Oh wow! Thanks for sharing :)

Hey @dulci - you can check out my comment to Kam above about the cameras. I usually use my Nikon D90. The controls are very intuitive. It's very easy to change settings by feel.
ReplyDeleteThese photos are absolutely amazing! I love them!!! There's nothing happier than hot air balloons at dawn!
