I just packed the weirdest bag

So, I'm headed to L.A. tomorrow for my cousin's baby shower and then I'm hitching a ride with my mom and aunt back to Arizona to get the final work done on my house there and get it all rented out. I left a bunch of clothes in Phoenix so my suitcase contains the following: my brother's clothes (which he left here because we had a hasty trip to the airport the day he left), baby stuff (for the shower), a double batch of toffee (also for the shower), textbooks, and an empty duffel (for bringing clothes back with me). There is also one change of clothes for me in there, but that's about it. I guess I wouldn't be too embarrassed about getting it searched, but I might get some funny looks. Also, after my bag got searched on the way back from my bachelorette party, I'm pretty sure I'm 'embarrassment at the airport' proof.

Watch, now something horrible is going to happen to me.

But anyway, I want to know about everyone else's plans for the weekend. Got anything exciting going on?

Tuesday Treasures

Hey peoples. Minor setback in the internetting last week. I got sick. Bleh. But, I still like things, so here are the some Tuesday Treasures!

1. Rodney McKay of Stargate Atlantis (and SG-1, a bit), one of my favorite characters of all time. I found this awesome video of Amanda Tapping discussing why she likes his character. Love him. And her.

2. The Fangirl Awards. Being a part of this academy is so much fun for me. The nominees went up today and now I get to dive in even more to see all the movies, read all the comic books, watch Fringe (because it's the only TV show nominee I haven't already watched, is that bad?), etc.

3. A new awesome cookbook. This time it's this one, which I got for Christmas. I am really looking forward to whipping up a rich, boozy cake.

4. Après ski. You know that feeling you get after a day of skiing and freezing your butt off when you get to wear comfy sweaters and eat carby food by a fire while drinking beer with friends? Best thing ever.

5. Really adorable animal pictures. Like these. Who doesn't like adorable animal pics?

Tuesday Treasures is back!

I know you're all so excited.

1. Taking a sick day and watching TV all day. Except for the sick part, it's great to have a day of lounging guilt-free. Well, it's hard for me to be guilt-free about anything, but I tried. Like the good little geek I am, I have been watching the exploits of these fine folk.

2. Pinterest. I'm completely addicted. I'm finding it to be the easiest way ever for an disorganized person to organize ideas.

3. Coffee. We bought a new french press from the fancy cookware store downtown. To me, coffee just tastes better coming from a french press. How do you brew?

4. This movie. Have you seen it yet? It was great. A bromance for the ages. (It's guy love)

5. Clever prints. I just can't get enough. Luckily, I don't buy too many. It would be very bad for my bank account.

Do you like wine and good movies?

Then you should watch this. It's pretty great. Plus it has great actors in it (Chris Pine, Bill Pullman, Alan Rickman, etc.)

Drinking it with your favorite wine is recommended, Chardonnay preferred. If you can afford the Chateau Montelena Chardonnay, more power to you. Though, if you are buying a bottle of the 2009 instead of the 1973, that would only set you back $50.

Snowflakes

We have been doing a lot of playing in the snow lately, inspiring me to explore it close-up with these amazing snowflake flickr sets. Have you seen these? Amazing shots of real snowflakes!

hello, how are you?

Hmmm.... long time no blog. The run-down:

First off, I've been without internet in Colorado due to the service provider being repeatedly ridiculous. Just as we finally got it hooked up, it was time for me to go to back to Arizona. Frustrating!

I drove back to AZ and worked on getting the remaining stuff at our Phoenix house packed up. We loaded up one of these PODs for storage. I highly recommend this storage method. They drop off a POD and you load it up and then call them and they come get it. Anyway, since my house doesn't really even have furniture, I was without internet there as well.

Christmas and New Years! We had a nice non-snowy (boo) Christmas in Prescott. Of course, they got hit with a serious storm right after we went back to Phoenix but that's the way it goes, I guess. I have to keep reminding myself that we live in Colorado now so we will be seeing plenty of snow (including right at this moment!) We had a fun New Years with our friends in Tucson, as is tradition (the fun and the friends).

I drove back to Colorado Springs with my brother and two unhappy but mostly well-behaved cats. There was very little room in the car with all our stuff so the cats had to be stacked up in a two-story configuration. I would be lying if I said they were thrilled about the arrangement.

Since getting back, we have been giving my brother a great vacation before he starts grad school. All the fun things we have been doing deserve their own blog post, however. If we get the amount of snow tonight that has been predicted, we have even more fun and ridiculous plans for tomorrow.

Hope you had a wonderful weekend month!
