Tuesday Treasures
1. My new favorite thing is ignoring the idiot fans of my favorite shows. Reading comments on interviews and any sort of commentary on the hulu message boards does nothing for me except annoy the heck out of me. Seriously, I have never seen a hulu discussion board that wasn't ragging on something insignificant or just bitching about something. Bleh. Plus, some of them are so wrong, assuming things that contradict statements made by show creators (which I heard out of their own mouths, in person, I might add). Remember TV without the internet? I am so nostalgic for that. If I love a show, I really could care less what strangers think about it. The fact that there are entire websites dedicated to picking apart the minutiae of TV shows and bitching about it just makes me sad. Let me love my shows in peace!
2. On a more lighthearted note, I'm loving these awesome headbands that Kam of Campfire Chic told me about. We will be wearing them to Comic-Con. Here's the one I picked out:
3. New photos in my etsy shop. I'm starting to advertise and do giveaways and promote my shop (especially since I had previously done no promotion at all, ever) and I love posting new photos. Here are the latest three:
4. Firefly references on other TV shows. They make me very happy every time I see them. (These clips are short and totally worth watching even if you don't watch Castle, Community, or tBBt.)
This first one is the best but the clip is long, the reference is basically the first 34 seconds.
5. This mask. It is my new favorite skincare product. Do not be dissuaded by the fact that it smells like tires.

It's totally going to be sweeping the nation soon...
I have the next new diet craze. I call it the geek diet (or maybe not because that's a horrible name).
Here's the gist: any time you feel hungry or like you're snacking out of boredom, watch something from the following list. You probably won't feel like eating anymore, trust me.
1. Pretty much any episode of Farscape*
2. Pretty much any episode of The X Files.
3. The first 5 minutes of any Bones episode.
4. The banquet scene in Temple of Doom.
5. The Exorcist**
6. Alien, especially that chest-bursting scene
7. Select episodes of CSI, especially that one with the body in the gym bag. Ew.
8. The Walking Dead***
9. Episodes of Buffy where there are giant freaky bug demons (and the like)
10. Joe's Apartment****
Suggestions??
*Watching this show inspired this list
**Or pretty much any horror movie
***Or pretty much any zombie movie
****Come on, who else remembers this movie? "Fun-ky tow-el, towels got the funk"

um.... Friday Treasures? Dress up your popcorn
This week's treasures are my five seven favorite things to put on popcorn. Popcorn is my yummy go-to healthy snack but I have to dress it up a little to keep it interesting.
1. Jane's crazy mixed-up salt. Best condiment ever. I use it in sauces, on veggies, pretty much everywhere. If you are a meat-eater, I've heard it makes a good marinade.
2. Popcorn Seasoning. It comes in many different flavors, but ranch is my fave. Harkins theaters have the seasoning for free, by the way, but Cinemark theaters make you buy your own little jar. I miss Harkins. (P.S. movie theater popcorn is not a "healthy snack")
3. Pizza popcorn: oregano, parmesan, and crushed red pepper. I also have something in my spice rack called "pizza seasoning" which works quite well.
4. Margarita popcorn: A bit of fresh lime juice and salt.
5. A little cinnamon & sugar sprinkled on top. Sweet. Use the ratio of 1 tsp cinnamon to 1 Tbsp sugar.
6. Cajun Seasoning. I recommend the "Slap Ya Mama" brand. It's what my MIL cooks with (she's from Louisiana). You can order it online, but I have also seen it at Cost Plus World Market.
7. If you can handle it... hot sauce. Especially Cholula brand.
If the toppings won't stick, I like to use a light spritz of water or an alterna-butter spray like 'I can't believe it's not butter'.

Workout music
I am putting together a good workout mix and really considering each song that goes on there. In the past, I have relied on itunes *genius* mixes and just throwing any song that sounded fast-paced into the mix.
I'm a fan of punk, indie, and classic rock for everyday listening, but I will throw a little hip-hop or even pop in there for working out. I love to work out to songs that make you want to dance because I'm a terrible but avid dancer and that type of music makes me want to move.
Here's a few I have so far:
1. Baba O'Riley - The Who
2. Dancing with Myself - The Donnas
3. American Idiot - Green Day
4. Around the World - Daft Punk
5. Life is a Highway - Rascal Flats
6. Are you gonna be my girl? - Jet
7. Panama - Van Halen
8. Mr. Brightside - The Killers
9. Yeah - Usher
10. Low - Flo Rida
So... suggestions? I need 'em! What's your favorite song to work out to?

Tuesday...er... Wednesday Treasures!
I'm a bit late with this because I left my computer cord in Colorado! My husband fedexed it to me and it arrived last night. A computer is very useful if you want to blog, or take online classes, or in my case, charge my cell phone. oops! Anyway, here are my treasures:
1. This book. I am loving it so far. I had to tear myself away to get things done. I'm pretty sure I'm about halfway through, a drawback to an eReader is that I'm never quite sure.

2 & 3. Self-portraits. I usually hate having my photo taken, and I still kind of do, but I actually enjoyed this assignment for my digital photography class. I had some fun with it. Plus, my new remote for my camera made it so easy. Also, bang trims. Who knew this was what was missing in my life? I always let my bangs grow out too long and then cut them with the rest of my hair. Getting my bangs trimmed in between cuts is one of my new favorite things.
4. A new, fun photographic process. This video on cyanotype printing has me trawling eBay for 8x10 negatives.

5. An anniversary. Tomorrow is my nine-year dating anniversary with my husband, but we won't be together, so we are planning a great date for when I get back. Any ideas?
