I am putting together a good workout mix and really considering each song that goes on there. In the past, I have relied on itunes *genius* mixes and just throwing any song that sounded fast-paced into the mix.
I'm a fan of punk, indie, and classic rock for everyday listening, but I will throw a little hip-hop or even pop in there for working out. I love to work out to songs that make you want to dance because I'm a terrible but avid dancer and that type of music makes me want to move.

Owl City has some really good, up-tempo songs that are really good for working out.

"Strawberry Avalanche", "Umbrella Beach", and "Cave In"
Weirdly, "Chelsea Dagger." It's so aggressive and fast-paced, it really gets you moving. Also, all of Lady Gaga's repertoire.
