I was really skeptical about The Hunger Games movie until I saw this trailer. It's just the right balance of emotion, grittiness, and hope. They might just do justice to this book after all.
Sidenote: My Dad called me one day and told me that I should read the Hunger Games books because he really liked them. Of course, being me, I had already read them all, but I was surprised. Gritty young adult futuristic dystopian fiction where eleven-year-olds slaughter each other? This from the guy who calls anything other than a murder mystery "weird"? I was very proud of him. Go Dad!

I get chills every time I watch it! I'm terribly excited to see it and it looks like it won't be a what-the-heck-did-you-do-to-Percy-Jackson catastrophe all over again...Here's hoping!
ReplyDelete@Kam - let's cross our fingers! I was worried it would be too shiny, but this looks very gritty.
ReplyDeleteI am beyond excited for this movie!
ReplyDeleteI was also quite skeptical (still not sure about Jennifer Lawrence...she bugs me), but the trailer looks amazing. I watched it about 10 times when it was released the other day. ha!
ReplyDelete@Ali Me too! I really didn't think I would be, either.
ReplyDelete@Mariel - she bugs me too. One thing I worry about is Winter's Bone. Her character was basically Katniss. She took care of her younger siblings because her mom was mentally absent and her dad was dead. She hunted squirrels, etc. Her character was also not that interesting. I worry she'll play Katniss the same way.
I want to see Finnick! Too bad he's not in the first book/movie...
